How to filter information in Telegram without delegating importance to algorithms

The most useful information filter in Telegram does not try to calculate which post is “objectively important.” It answers a narrower question: do I need to open the primary source before making the next work-related decision. Importance depends on context: a service update may be mandatory before planning and completely irrelevant after it. This connection to the task cannot be handed over to an algorithm—it must be formulated by you.

Set up the filter as an opening rule

1. Link reading to a specific action.

Before viewing the feed, write down two or three conditions under which you will open the full post. The conditions should describe an observable feature, not the general tone of the message. For example: “I open it if the conditions of the tool used by the team have changed”; “I open it if there is a date affecting upcoming planning”; “I open it if primary data needed for a document has been published.”

Phrases like “everything about the market” or “interesting AI news” do not filter out information noise: almost any post fits under them. A good rule allows you to say “yes” or “no” within seconds, without arguing with yourself about the value of the publication.

2. Shorten the first pass, but do not give it the right to decide.
